Rabat, Morocco - Seven people have been killed and about 20 injured in violence that erupted last Sunday after a football match in Dakhla, a town of Western Sahara, an official source told PANA here Tuesday.

'At the end of the match, violence burst between supporters, killing seven, including two elements of the security forces, while about 20 others were injured,' according to a statement of the wilaya (super-governorate) of Oued-Eddahab-Lagouira, quoted by the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP).

The match was between two amateur teams.

Several vehicles and commercial establishments were burnt down during the violence.

In the meantime, the Moroccan minister of Interior, Taieb Cherqaoui, has ordered an investigation into the incident.
