Telecommunication - Vodacom Tanzania has reached a customer base of ten million subscribers out of whom two million use the M-Pesa money transfer service. Vodacom Tanzania Chief Officer, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Ms Mwamvita Makamba, said on Sunday that the company is thankful to its customers and Tanzanians as a whole.
"Our success is a result of the trust that customers and Tanzanians have had in Vodacom for the past 11 years," she said.
"We are thrilled today as we serve over ten million customers on the Vodacom network. Our success is not only through our drive to bring great products and services, but also to our customers who continue to use our services every day.
It is because of our customers that we are the leading cellular company in Tanzania," she added.
She affirmed that at all times Vodacom thrives to bring solutions that are creatively and skillfully constructed not just to cater to customers' communication needs, but also easen their day to day operations.
"We are optimistic that more people will subscribe with Vodacom in the future, because we always aspire to give you the best services at a competitive rate.
This is in line with our clear intentions of changing and making peoples' lives easy through the use of cell phones," said Mwamvita.
On the two million customers using M-Pesa services, Mwamvita said that the growing number of people joining the services is a testimony of M-Pesa's dominance.
M-Pesa services has made transactions easy by doing away with past inconveniences involved when one wanted to send and receive money or settle bills.
The first Vodacom Tanzania customer joined the network in October 2000, from then on Vodacom Tanzania has been breaking records of having the largest number of subscribers in the market today.
Vodacom breaks its own record of having the largest subscriber base. Vodacom has recorded that number of customers just few months after rebranding which went concurrently with cementing the company's promise of ensuring that all Tanzanians are reached by very high quality communications services wherever they are.
"We want every Tanzanian to be capable of using a cell phone service, be it in rural areas or urban centres, through the Vodacom network.
We want to ensure that everyone is connected to our network, enjoy superior service with premium products at competitive rates," said Vodacom Tanzania Managing Director Dietlof Mare, during the unveiling of Vodacom's new corporate color and logo in April, this year.
