State information bill South Africa: Protection of state information bill

Protection of state information bill - Parliamentary process - The Protection of State Information Bill comes before the National Assembly (NA) today for a decision. The NA will first consider the report from the Ad-hoc Committee on the Protection of State Information Bill.
After that the House will decide on whether to pass the bill.

If a division is called for, members will individually vote on the bill in terms section 53 of the Constitution. An ordinary open vote will be held.

The Protection of State Information Bill is the first item on the agenda for today's sitting of the NA, which starts at 14.00. Parties will be able to make declarations on the bill before a decision is taken on the bill.

When the bill is passed by the National Assembly it will be referred to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for consideration.

The NCOP will then process the bill in terms of its rules.
