Religious clashes in Egypt - The European Union (EU) has said it is 'extremely concerned' about the sectarian clashes that have claimed at least two dozen lives and left over 200 injured in Egypt in recent days
Egypt's minority Coptic Christians and security agencies have clashed severally since Sunday in the capital city of Cairo, leading to the heavy casualties.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Brussels, the EU said the freedom of religion is essential for the country’s transition to democracy to establish free and democratic society.
The EU also said the use of force by the military against civilians is not acceptable in any circumstance, adding 'the civil control of the military must be a key element of Egyptian democracy'.
