NGO condemns breaches of press freedom in Mauritania - A Mauritanian human rights group has condemned breaches of press freedom and intimidation against the television crew of Africa 7, the new Dakar-based Pan-African television network, according to a declaration made available to PANA on Wednesday.

The Initiative for the Resurgence of Abolitionist Movement (IRA), a human rights and an anti-slavery organization, especially protested against the behaviour of the police who seized the material of TV crew and underwent a seven-hour grilling following an interview with  IRA chairman, Birame Ould Dah Ould Abeid, on slavery.

In its declaration, IRA demanded the return of the seized material and the end of harassment against its leader.
