Health Nigeria - More cases of polio recorded in Kano. Despite the efforts of Kano State, the Federal Government, and development partners to eradicate polio in Kano State, more cases are being recorded. Now there are 16 cases against the 14 that were earlier recorded.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Health Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf during the flag off of 9th Round of Immunization Plus Days and handing over of motorcycles for surveillance exercise by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Kano. Yusuf said the new case was recorded in Gaya Local Government Area of the state.
He said however that strategies were being put in place to fight polio and all other child killer diseases.
"We have demonstrated unalloyed commitment to the polio eradication and improved routine immunization campaign in the state through sustained community mobilization as well as intensive supervision and support to cold chains system, among other interventions," he explained.
