Lagos, Nigeria - Many casualties feared from attack on police base in Nigeria - Many people are feared dead or injured following Sunday's attack on the police mobile force base in northern Gombe state, police sources told PANA.
The sources said suspected members of the Islamic sect Boko Haram detonated a powerful bomb at the base around 01.00 a.m. local time.
'All arms were moved and the pmf (police mobile force) base burned to ashes,' the sources said, adding: 'Details of the casualties are yet unknown.'
It is the latest in a series of attacks by the sect, which bombed the police headquarters in the capital city of Abuja in June and the UN building also in the Nigerian capital in August.
