Lagos, Nigeria - The 2nd ECOWAS Investment Forum opened in Lagos Thursday, with participants drawn from the 15 member states of the regional bloc. Nigeria's Vice President Namadi Sambo, who stood in for the ECOWAS Chair, President Goodluck Jonathan, declared open the forum.

He urged foreign investors to take advantage of the numerous business opportunities in the sub-region by investment therein.

Sambo said the forum was aimed at fostering stronger ties among member states and showcasing the investment opportunities in West Africa.

The two-day forum was organized by the ECOWAS Commission, in collaboration with the Association of Investment Promotion Agencies of West African States (IPAWAS) and the West African Bankers Association (WABA).

The 1st ECOWAS Investment Forum was held in Brussels, Belgium, in 2010,
