Politics - The newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Offinso South Municipal Assembly, Baafour Kese-Amankwa has met Zongo chiefs at Offinso and urged them to advice the youth in the community to comport themselves, since they are the backbone of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). The MCE assured the chiefs that his administration would not turn back to the Zongo Communities in the Offinso South, because without the Zongo community, there would be no NDC. According to Kese-Amankwa, the Youth, particularly those coming from the Zongo areas serve as a candle showing the way for others to emulate, and for that matter whatever they do would go a long way to either affect the party (NDC) positively or negatively.
He, therefore, called for a better collaboration from the Zongo youth to help maintain a good name for the NDC and the government, and this he said would enable him serve the entire Municipality better.
The MCE maintained that he sees himself as part of the Zongo community and for that matter all their problems were his, and he would ensure that most of them are tackled before his tenure of office ends. Mr. Kese-Amankwa indicated that all that happened during the contest for the position of MCE should be buried, so that they could come together and work for a better Offinso.
The Chief of Offinso Zongo Community, Issahaku Kabore Nam Tacha regretted that the Zongo community, which contributed to the victory of the NDC has been neglected for far too long, and this he said must be addressed.
According to Nam Tacha, if NDC loses power, it is they the Zongo people that would suffer. The Zongo chief noted that a request by his people to give them a refuse container was rejected by the NDC administration in Offinso, because they failed to construct a stand for it.
The Chief believed that the first step of the new MCE towards the Zongo community in Offinso indicates that he would not discriminate. Nam Tacha appealed to the new MCE to construct the two main roads leading to Offinso Zongo, for easy movement of vehicles.
The MCE was led to the chiefs by the Offinso NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr. Adu Boateng Boahin, the Constituency Organizer, the Youth Organizer and the Women Organizer. Some other NDC supporters were also present at the meeting. The MCE later visited the Abofour Central Mosque, where special prayers were offered for him.
