Niger team gets FCFA 30 mln for 2009 junior CAN

Niamey, Niger - For qualifying for the country's maiden appearance in the African junior nations' cup soccer finals, Niger's Under-17 team was given CFA f rancs 30 million by Prime Minister Seyni Oumarou Wednesday, an official source told PANA here.

The team made history last Saturday when it scaled through Cote d'Ivoire in its last qualifying match to earn a berth in the finals to be held in Algeria in Mar c h 2009.

The presentation of the money to the team was held in an atmosphere of pomp and pageantry with the prime minister flanked by the entire Niger cabinet ministers.

Congratulating the players, Prime Minister Oumarou said the players should every thing possible to give Niger a respectable representation in Algeria next year.
