Suspension of Defence Minister Irreversible - The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said there was no going back on its decision to suspend the Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode. Chairman of the party in the state, Dr Tayo Dairo, who spoke to journalists in Akure, said no amount of intimidation could make the party to rescind its decision. He maintained that Prince Kayode was suspended over anti party activities. Dairo was reacting to a statement credited to a group from Akoko North-west Local Government Area of the state, where the minister hails from.
In a letter to the national chairman of the party, Dr Haliru Mohammed, the leader of the group, Prince Alaba Arohunmolase, secretary, Mr Apalowo and the group's treasurer, Chief Z.O Abegunde, said the suspension of the minister did not follow due process.
Our correspondent reports that the national secretariat of the party has also ordered the state chapter of the party to rescind its decision.
But Dairo is insisting that Kayode's suspension followed due process, adding, "Sequel to the petition filed against Kayode by the nine PDP national assembly candidates in the April elections in the state, we decided to suspend him."
