Zimbabwe Court grants bail to protesting WOZA members

Dakar, Senegal – The Harare Magistrate's Court on Thursday granted bail to 10 detained members of a Zimbabwe pressure group, Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), who had staged “Valentine’s demonstration”, the pressure group said in a communiqué’ received in Dakar by PANA.

The group, including two lawyers, has been charged with disturbing the peace, security or order of the public.

They are expected to reappear before the court on March 4th.

The police reportedly arrested the eight female members and two men shortly after the peaceful demonstration around Zimbabwe’s Parliament building.

WOZA members have repeatedly run into trouble with the Zimbabwean authorities who mostly saw the pressure group’s street protests as “illegal”
