The ban was imposed several years ago because of long running politically-motivated violence in Zimbabwe.
In February, President Robert Mugabe agreed to share power with the opposition, ending a stand-off which had kept the country on a knife edge for years.
Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi welcomed the decision by Britain and the Commonwealth to lift the travel ban, and said the European Union was expected to follow suit soon.
In the past few weeks, Japan, Germany and the United States have lifted their own travel bans on Zimbabwe, citing improved security under the new government.
Virtually all developed countries, the main source of markets for tourists for Zimbabwe, imposed travel restrictions on their citizens to the country.
