The programme consists of a 10-year plan (2003-2013) aimed at consolidating the Earth Observation Global Systems (GEOSS) agreed during the Earth Summit in Washington in July 2003.
The GEOSS initiative is aimed at creating an environment conducive to decision-making in favour of mankind.
Participants would discuss issues related to floods, drought, environmental degradation, climate change and water deficit in Africa.
Organised by the Tunis-based National School of Engineers (ENIT) and EcoPark Borj Cédria, a Tunisian organisation on environmental issues, the symposium is also aimed at reviewing the progress of national, international and independent progr a mmes on observation, analysis and forecast of the water cycle in Africa.
