The conference would address the issue of climate change from the standpoint of human rights, namely people's protection.
According to the meeting's agenda, there would be sessions on the assessment of vulnerability within the framework of climate change in West Africa; the effects
of climate change on human rights; the social dimensions of climate change; and, climate change and conflicts.
The meeting will end on Wednesday with the ministerial session to be opened by Togolese Prime minister Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo.
The conference is being organised as a prelude to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change scheduled to take place in December in Copenhagen, Denmark.
