According to official sources, this is part of the project to strengthen and inc rease the prevention and complete care for people living with HIV within the framework of a universal access to anti-retroviral drugs in the West African state.
According to the same sources, more than one-third of the money, or 30 billion FCFA, has already been given to Togo.
Sources said the project would help lessen the risks of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV within vulnerable groups.
The main actions, among others, will be based on “the decentralization of services and establishment of civil society organisations to hit the targeted populations, the offer of quality services and the strengthening of health and community systems in a bid to sustain the achievements”.
The agreement was signed by the senior minister, Minister of Health, Komlan Mally and the Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malari a and Tuberculosis, Michel Kazatchkine.
The Fund, which started operating in Togo in 2002, suspended its operations because of problems of malfunctioning related to the coordination and monitoring-evaluation of its projects.
According to official statistics, the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in Togo is 3.2%.
