Senegal labour inspectors and controllers end strike

A three-day general strike called by Senegal's labour inspectors and controllers trade union ended on Monday, union sources told PANA in Dakar.

Among other demands, the trade union was asking for better working conditions and a rise in their allowances, which have not been increased since 1976.

Ibrahima Dieng, who is in charge of communication at the trade union, told PANA that the labour inspectors and controllers employed by the state are not more than 130.

The union activists were received on Monday evening by the minister of Civil Service, Diakaria Diaw, who vowed to open negotiations on Wednesday.
