Regional bourse ends week on a slide

The Regional Bourse for the French West Africa (BRVM) closed its fixing session on Friday slightly lower than it did the previous day.

The BRVM composite index lost 1.59 per cent, dropping from 144.53 to 142.23 points, while the BRVM 10 index closed at 151.05 points down 1.97 per cent.

The value of the transactions was 78.65 million CFA francs, compared to the 64.13 million CFA francs reported last session.

Trading involved 17 of the 39 companies listed on the stock exchange, and the number of securities traded climbed to 18,740.

Fifteen of the 20 accredited brokerage firms, including nine from outside Côte d'Ivoire, took part in the market.

Stock market capitalization was 2,933,351,914,532 CFA francs, as that for the bond market rose to 538,802,359,152 CFA francs.

On the bond market, 143 bonds were traded for a total value of 1.30 million CFA francs, not counting accrued coupons.
