Libya-Government: Libya's NTC to set up national consensus govt in 2 weeks

Tripoli, Libya - Talks aimed at setting up a national consensus government to manage Libya's transition period are continuing, the NTC leader, Mustapha Abdeljelil, said, indicating that the new administration would be established not later than two weeks. The interim government in place, which is conducting the affairs of state and chaired by Mahmoud Djibril, who will not be part of the new government, has been dissolved following the assassination of the NTC army chief, Abdelfetah Younès.

Abdeljelil also appealed to Libyans to remain calm, tolerant and to desist from any acts of revenge and hatred.

PANA reports that the NTC has pledged to organize democratic elections by April 2012, and expects Libya to develop into a constitutional democracy by 2013.

The NTC which said that Libya needed a stable environment to enable the international community partake in rebuilding the country, added that its priority was to see the return of security and stability and the total seizure of the arms from unauthorized handlers.
