Paris mourns Comoran plane crash victims

French President Nicolas Sarkozy was on Thursday among over 3,000 people who took part in a religious ceremony held at the Paris Big Mosque in memory of victims of the A-310 Yemenia Airways plane that crashed off Comoros earlier in the week.

The Muslims prayer called “Prayer of the Missing” was said before speeches were made by those representing all religions.

Those representing the families of the 142 passengers and the 11 crew members who died in the crash arrived on board of two buses escorted by despatch riders of the French police.

Other relatives of the victims who could not enter the Mosque had to listen to the ceremony from the pavement through loudspeakers installed for the occasion.

The religious tribute ended with a silent march held to demand the circumstances of the crash of Yemenia Airways A-310 Airbus that took place on Monday night.
