Kunhinga, Angola - British non-governmental organisation, The Halo Trust, this year cleared an area of 180,246 square metres in Kunhinga District, central Bié Province, as part of the mines clearing process in the country.
The areas of Elevação, Novo ward and Nandjengue village, surroundings of the municipal headquarters, as well as the Kunhinga/Belo Horizonte route were officially handed over to the local administrative authorities Monday.
At the handing over ceremony, Kunhinga District deputy administrator, José António Ndalula, described the clearing as important, since, according to him, it will contribute to the social and economic development of the local population.
Ndalula explained that among the cleared areas, certain portions will be used as land reserves, where houses are to be built and others reserved for cultivation.
