MAS of Morocco beats Tunisia's Club Africain to lift trophy - MAS of Morocco has won the 2011 CAF Confederation Cup, after beating Club Africain of Tunisia 6-5 on penalties on Sunday in the return-leg final in Fes, Morocco.
Malian striker Moussa Tigana sent the match to penalties when he scored for his team in added time of the first half to give MAS a 1-0 victory that took aggregate score to 1-1.
Goalkeeper Anas Zniti was the hero for MAS when he scored the decisive penalty.
It was a revenge of sorts for the Moroccan club, which ensured that the second-tier continental trophy went to the country, after Tunisian club Esperance beat Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 1-0 to win the more prestigious Champions League last month.
MAS received US$600,000 for its victory, in addition to winning the ticket to take on Esperance in the one-off CAF Super Cup next year.
