Consequently, the House Committee on Navy has asked the naval authorities to furnish it with the preliminary findings on the crash, in which four naval officers died.
"The committee is aware that the aircraft is among those that were purchased not very long time ago and that it should be in a very sound condition and I believe money was provided for their maintenance," said Committee Chair Bashir Adamu.
"The aircraft is relatively young, so I believe there must be something wrong. Some of the aviation agencies are saying that they received no distress call from the pilot before the accident. I believe it should be investigated thoroughly so that Nigerians should know what exactly happened and the future occurrence to be avoided," he added.
The helicopter crashed into the Ogbodo swamp in Isiokpo village, near the River's capital, Port Harcourt, on 27 January 2010, killing all its occupants
