Mauritania budgets US$ 1 billion for 2010

The Mauritanian government rose from an extraordinary Council of Ministers' meeting Monday and adopted the 2010 finance bill, fixed at 245,874,369,054 ouguiyas (about US$ 1 billion), a 3.68 per cent increase, compared to that of last year, according to a statement released here on Tuesday.

The new finance bill reflects the will of the new government to allocate resources and give priority attention to expenditures which will enhance basic social services in the sectors of education, health, safe water, transports, among others," the statement noted.

The 2010 draft budget also seeks to sustain efforts aimed at "reviving economic activity and increased efficiency.
