The meting in Tripoli came against the background of preparations for the world conference on food security to be organised by the FAO next month in Italy.
The FAO Director-General, according to official sources, gave an overview to Kad hafi on the ongoing preparations and arrangements for the conference and of the major issues featuring on its agenda.
Mr Diouf informed the AU chairperson of the FAO's desire to see the AU actively participate in the conference and urge African countries to cooperate with the FAO with a view to the execution of the their programmes and contributing to the success of the meeting.
