The exhibition is attracting various Libyan bodies and institutions working toward the promotion and integration between the CEN-SAD member countries and Africa through investments, economic projects and humanitarian aid.
According to organizers, the exhibition aims at highlighting efforts made by Libya in terms of unity among CEN-SAD member countries and of an optimal utilization of natural resources.
Giant pictures of projects carried out in the past or are underway are on exhibi tion, as well as plans, models and brochures, including detailed explanations about these projects.
The executive director of the Libyan Fund for the Promotion and Investment in Africa, Dr Mahmoud Al Tbeigha, said in a statement made available to PANA that the fund created in 2008 to take over the investment fund of the Libyan Foreign Bank , had so far granted loans worth US$ 250 million to 1,145 Libyan investors to allow them to settle in 14 African countries made up of Niger, Sudan, Algeria, Gambia , Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Benin, Togo and Ghana and they have undertaken 376 projects.
The projects cover sectors including industry (factories), property (hotels), agriculture and rural development.
The fund manager said these efforts were part of Libyan initiatives to utilize in a rational way Africa's natural resources in a bid to achieve political and financial independence of African countries in addition to social objectives embodied in the rapprochement between African people and the interaction between busine s smen on the continent.
These investments will contribute to the promotion of African economies through the creation of new markets and activities likely to create job opportunities for African youth.
On prospects of the Fund, Mr. Al-Tbeiga said that his institution would continue to supervise projects and was putting in place investment plans in the different African countries in a bid to identify promising investment sectors likely to benefit populations and investors.
The Administrative and financial director of the project "Kadhafi's project for African women, children and youth", Abass Ahmed Azraig, said the project was aimed to protect these fringe groups of the African society against backwardness, ignorance and disease through the implementation of various development programmes.
He said his institution had carried out four vaccination campaigns targeting thousands of people living in CEN-SAD member countries and sent 15 cargos of humanitarian and medical aid in various countries.
He said the project was this year working toward the creation of many development programmes including the construction of health centres, schools and small factories.
As far as the youth was concerned, Mr Azraig said that small- scale projects were sponsored through the project in a bid to offer income generating activities to young people and fight illicit migration.
He added that the project was putting in place a new experience through cooperation with the Grameen Bank for the creation in 2009 of the Bank Kadhafi Grameen International which will grant loans to low income groups in Africa as part of the efforts to alleviate poverty.
Some other institutions including the Libyan Fund for Aid and Development in Africa are taking part in the exhibition.
