Ball of 2012 Nations Cup - The newly-designed official match ball for the 2012 African Cup of Nations, to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, has been designated 'Comoequa' and formally presented by sports equipment maker adidas and African soccer's governing body, CAF.
CAF said the name was derived from the Como River, which runs through both host nations, and the Equator, which runs throughout Africa and unites both host nations.
The Comoequa features a bright yellow base colour inspired by the vibrancy of African culture, and is linked with the flags of both tournament hosts through colour markings on the central triangular panels.
The Comoequa is the third ball adidas has produced for the Africa Cup of Nations since 2008, when the company became the official supplier of the African Cup of Nations.
The 16-team Africa Cup of Nations finals will run from 21 Jan to 12 Feb.
