They include host Presidents Yayi Boni of Benin, Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso, Francois Bozize of the Central African Republic, Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo and Mamadou Tandja of Niger.
The ceremony will be held in presence of former French President Jacques Chirac in the Benin capital.
The presidents who signed the Cotonou Appeal against counterfeit drugs will undertake to fight against the scourge, support public and private stakeholders already involved in the fight and raise public awareness against the prohibited products.
Through this campaign, the Chirac Foundation wants to convince the United Nations to conclude a convention banning the manufacture and marketing of counterfeit drugs.
