Lagos, Nigeria - Former World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Samuel Peter of Nigeria recorded the fifth loss of his career when he was knocked out in the ninth round of his fight with unbeaten heavyweight Robert Helenius in Germany Saturday night. According to the boxing website fightnews.com, the much taller Helinius mostly worked behind his jab, showing Peter a lot of respect early. Peter was mostly the aggressor, but the pattern changed in round nine when Helinius dropped Peter with a left hook, then laid him out for the count with his follow up attack.
The fight was for both the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organisation Intercontinental belts.
