The trophy arrived Tuesday in the Burkinabe capital, from Monrovia, Liberia, on a special plane.
It was presented to Compaoré, who is the only Burkinabe entitled to touch it, as this privilege is only reserved for world champions and heads of state.
Hailing the organisation of the 2010 World Cup in Africa, Compaoré commended the efforts of FIFA regarding the organisation of football.
"We, African leaders, have the duty to ensure the promotion of the king of sports,' he declared, noting that football was the symbol of universality.
On Wednesday, the trophy will be exhibited for three hours at the French Cultural Centre in Ouagadougou.
The trophy is to go all over 52 African capitals, ahead of the World Cup that will be held in 2010 in South Africa.
