Ex-Chelsea FC coach Jose Mourinho visits Nigeria

Inter Milan Coach, Jose Mourinho, who arrived in Nigeria Friday, accompanied by officials and players of the Belgian Football Academy, the Royal Antwerp, are expected in Ilorin, capital of the north central Kwara State, for the last lap of his three-day visit to country.

According to the privately-owned Guardian newspaper, the visit of the former coach of Chelsea FC of England is part of efforts by the Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki, to position the Kwara Football Academy in the main stream of world foot ball.

The visiting Royal Antwerp team, to be coached by Mourinho, will meet Kwara Academy in a friendly match at the Ilorin township stadium.

According to Chief Executive Officer of the organisers of the trip, the Premium Sports Management Services (PSMS), Consultants to the Kwara Football Association (KFA), Nkechi Obi, the international friendly between KFA and Royal Antwerp woul d give players of the Nigerian academy the opportunity to test their skills against international opposition.

"They are playing on home turf in front of their number one fan, Governor Bukola Saraki. The entire country will be behind them and international scouts will watch them so the opportunity beckons on the boys to show the stuff they are made of. Above all, the 'Special One', Mourinho, will provide the requisite verve and charisma to spur them on," Obi added.

She disclosed that the match would be beamed live across Africa.
