Auto accident Sudan - Fifteen persons were killed and 31 others injured in a collision involving a commuter bus and a truck, loaded with steel barks, in Eastern Sudan, the semi official Sudan Media Centre (SMC), reporting from Sudan’s Atbara town, said on Monday.

It said the accident occurred when the truck, trying to avoid a stationary car on the asphalt, had its iron bars pierce the body of the bus to instantly kill 15 persons in the bus, the agency said.

Regional authorities raced to the scene to supervise evacuation of the dead and injured and to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the vital road that links Khartoum with Sudan’s only sea port, Portsudan, the agency said.
