CHAN 2011: Sudan to spice up attack ahead of Angola clash

Khartoum, Sudan - Host Sudan is seeking to spice up its attack ahead of Tuesday's semi-final clash against Angola at the second African Nations Championship. According to coach Mohamed Abdallah, popularly called 'Mazda', Sudan's attack has not been as sharp as it should be, hence the team's low scoring so far in the competition.

Sudan scored only two goals in the first round, and managed to score another in the quarters in the 1-1 draw against Niger, before the teams resorted to playing penalties.

“Goal scoring has been a worrying phenomenon in Sudan football. We always create a lot of chances but find it difficult placing the ball in the net,' coach Abdallah said here ahead of the semi-final.

“I hope to work on the confidence of my players in goal scoring positions. Also, we will work on the art of scoring and I am very sure the changes will reflect against Angola,” he added.

Reaching the last four is a big achievement for Sudan, which has not reached that stage at any major continental competition since winning the 1970 Africa Cup of Nations which it hosted.
