Gambia's national team - Gambia's Sports Ministry has appointed Peter Bonu Johnson as the new coach of the senior team, the Scorpions, for one year.

In a statement received by PANA on Tuesday, the ministry said Mr. Johnson had been hired 'as the coach of the senior national team for an initial period of one year. He will be working with a competent foreign coach within an appropriate framework. He will also work with a technical team to assist him in his duties'.

The statement said the Gambia Football Association would select a national team that would be tasked with getting Gambia past the qualifying stage for the African Cup of Nation as well as prepare the team for the World Cup Qualifying rounds.

Prior to his new job, Mr. Johnson had served as a coach for both Gambia's U-20 and U-17 teams.
