COMESA central banks to meet in Mauritius

Mauritius will host the 14th meeting of the committee of governors of the central banks of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) on 29 and 30 October, sources close to the Central Bank of Mauritius told PANA on Wednesday.

An official of the Bank of Mauritius said that the governors will be discussing the world financial crisis and its repercussions on the economies of their respective countries.

COMESA comprises 19 countries with a total population of 420 million inhabitants - Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
