Angolan refugees from DRC get logistic support

Angola - The representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Bohdan Nahadjlo, has pledged that international agencies will provide logistic support to Angolan refugees returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to a news report from the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP), Nahadjlo said here Friday that the assistance would come from the United Nations Children's fund (UNICEF), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the World Health Organisation (WHO), among others.

He said "This group of agencies and other organisations will add to efforts by the international community to alleviate the sufferings of the Angolan refugees."

Nahadjlo said representatives of the organizations had gone to northern DRC, home to most of the Angolan refugees, called 'Mama Rosa".

Created in 1951 by the UN General Assembly, the UNHCR aims to provide refugees with protection and assistance.
