Lagos, Nigeria - Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded the names of two ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, PANA reported Thursday. They are Mr. Kabiru Tanimu from northern Kebbi state and Prof. Chinedu Nebo from southern Enugu State.
Mr. Tanimu will replace former Defence Minister Bello Mohammed, who was sacked last year, while Prof. Nebo is coming in for former Power Minister Barth Nnaji, who was also relieved of his post last year.
Under the Nigerian constitution, each of the country's 36 states is entitled to at least a minister, in addition to those appointed from each of the six geo-political zones in the country.
No date has yet been fixed for the Senate confirmation process.
