Banking: Mauritian, Sudanese central banks sign agreement

Port-Louis, Mauritius - The Bank of Maurutius and the Central Bank of Sudan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in information sharing and supervisory duties, PANA reported from Port-Louis.


In a communiqué issued Friday, the Bank of Mauritius said that the agreement paves the way for the two institutions to establish and promote bilateral ties in banking supervision and implement cross-border supervision and cooperation.

The Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Rundheersing Bheenick, welcomed the MoU with one of the largest economies in the COMESA region, saying 'I look forward to closer collaboration with Sudan as both countries seek to achieve greater regional cooperation.'

Also speaking, Abdelrahman Hassan Abdelrahman Hashim, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, added that he looks  forward to a closer cooperation not only between the two regulators but also between commercial banks operating in the two regions.
