Bamako, Mali - Me Mouctar Mariko, 48, has been elected President of the Malian Association of Human Rights (MAHR), replacing Mr. Brahima Kone, who has completed two terms at the head of the organization, PANA learnt from the association. Mariko said his office would focus on the struggle against corruption, the realization of socio-economic rights and capacity-building among activists of the association.
His election was witnessed by the former president of the Inter-African Union of Human Rights (UIDH), Halidou Ouedraogo of Burkina Faso, and honorary president of the International Federation for the defence of human rights, Sidiki Kaba, from Senegal, who was inducted by the Malian authorities as Knight of the Order National of Mali.
