Tanzania urges national reconciliation in Libya - Urging Libya’s National Transition Council (NTC) to foster reconciliation following the death of Col. Mouammar Kadhafi, Tanzania’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Bernard Membe said here Friday that undemocratic regime change always attracted a state of insecurity. According to the minister, peace would not come automatically in Libya following the capture and killing of Kadhafi by NTC forces Thursday.
'We have experience in resolving conflicts in Africa. We can tell that it is not guaranteed that after Kadhafi’s death all will be fine,' Membe said, underlining the need for NTC leaders to foster reconciliation and unite all Libyans in an all-inclusive government in line with the African Union Road Map on Libya.
The minister said he was saddened by circumstances surrounding Kadhafi’s death after being captured, because those who claim to be pioneers of human rights and justice could take him before the law.
Membe noted it is not Tanzanian culture to celebrate any death and there was “nothing to cheer about in connection with Kadhafi’s death.”
