Libya News: Gaddafi urges mass resistance, warns NTC supporters

Gaddafi urges mass resistance, warns NTC supporters - Ousted Libyan leader, Col Muammar Gaddafi, has urged Libyans to move to the streets to resist the nation's interim leaders. He also warned those who recognise the National Transition Council (NTC) Libya's interim rulers to be ready for the creation of more imposed transitional councils to replace them one by one from now on. An audio message broadcast on the Syrian Arrai television quotes Gaddafi as saying conditions in Libya had become unbearable.

"I call on the Libyan people, men and women, to go out into the squares and the streets in all the cities in their millions. Go peacefully... be courageous, rise up, go to the streets, raise our green flags to the skies. Don't be afraid of anyone. You are the people. You have right on your side. You are the rightful people of this land", he said in the message.

Gaddafi questioned the right of the NTC to rule Libya, saying, "How did it get its legitimacy? Did the Libyan people elect them? Did the Libyan people appoint them?"

Gaddafi and his spokesman have been using the Syrian station to pass messages to Libyans since he was forced from power. He last used the channel on September 20. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Meanwhile, heavy fighting continues between his loyalists and NTC forces for his home city of Sirte as at yesterday. Sirte is 360km (225 miles) east of Tripoli and one of the last strongholds of Gaddafi.
