Tripoli, Libya - The European Union (EU) Friday announced the easing of sanctions against Libya following resolutions to that effect by the UN Security Council, including the lifting of the freeze on Libyan assets, among others.
On the economic level, indicators suggest a rapid resumption of oil production in the country in the coming days after major oil companies resumed activities in the country, according to officials of the National Transition Council (NTC).
Meanwhile, the announcement of a broad-based transitional government is still being awaited.
On the fighting, after successfully taking the cities of Sebha, Ouadane and Joffra, in southern Libya, as well as capturing of the region of Fezzan, the NTC forces are Friday observing a break from hostilities.
