Libya crisis: Mauritanian president leaves for Libya crisis meeting in Pretoria

News from Libya - The president of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, left Nouakchott on Saturday for Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, where he will attend the fourth meeting of the top African Union (AU) ad-hoc committee on the Libyan crisis. The AU has called for an immediate ceasefire in Libya, the cessation of NATO bombings and the opening of negotiations between the Libyan government and insurgents. In addition to president Aziz, the AU ad-hoc committee comprises the presidents of South Africa, Jacob Zuma; Congo, Denis Sassou-Nguesso; Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure and Uganda, Yoweri Museveni.

The meeting will take place on Sunday.
