Tripoli, Libya - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) planes on Monday evening struck several civilian sites located in residential areas of Bir Al-Ghanem, in the region of Zaouia, 40 km West of Tripoli, Abu Arguoub and Jeffra in the south-west of the country, Libyan television said quoting a military spokesperson.
He said those bombardments left many civilians dead.
Libyan television, broadcasting images of the bombarded sites, quoted a victim in Bir-Al-Ghanem whose house was hit. He said all neighbouring buildings were civilian houses.
Another person said the raids also targeted a veterinary centre and an administrative building offering services to citizens of the city of Bir Al-Ghanem.
A military spokesperson said that NATO struck a factory producing engines in Khomes in the east of Tripoli.
