European Union-Liberia - The European Union (EU) has expressed concern about recent political violence in Liberia and Monday called on the citizens to settle for peaceful dialogue, so as not to jeopardize the successful holding of general elections slated for October.
'Given the considerable progress already made by Liberia on the road to consolidating democracy and stability since the end of the civil war in 2003, it is important that political violence does not affect the results achieved,' said a statement of the Council of Member States sent to the press in Brussels.
According to the statement, EU called on all political parties, their leaders as well as their supporters, to reiterate their support for the peaceful holding of the next elections in Liberia.
