Liberia-Internet Boost: Lone Star Steps Up Internet Speed

Mobile phones, wireless gadgets, internet - By the time Liberia shook up itself out of the dust of conflict, the world community was fast ahead on the international information highway replete with mobile phones, wireless gadgets, internet, amongst others. Since the cessation of the war, the country has been on snail pace on the superhighway; however, thanks to LoneStar Communications which pioneered Liberia’s version of modern telecommunications and has since continued to keep the people in tune with changing variables and superb innovations attending the prevailing technological revolution. The nation’s most popular GSM provider, Lone Star Cell, has taken the lead again in the telecommunication industry of the country consistent with its vow to keep Liberia in the center-stage.

At a news conference held at the company’s Congo Town office, the management launched the a new technology, the iConnect Broadband internet service, aimed at enhancing efficient connectivity of its subscribers connected to this new technology that is based on the latest WiMAX Technology.

Given the painfully slow internet services in the country, there is no doubt that Liberians, particularly those who subscribe with LoneStar, would have a relief; as a bystander at the launching program said, “the new technology has come at the right time”.

The Chief Executive Officer of Lone Star Cell, Mazen Mroue, said in the presence of government officials from the telecommunication sector, businessmen and women, that the official launching of the iConnect internet service was part of Lone Star Cell–MTN commitment made before entering the Liberian market, which to provide the people of Liberia an innovative telecommunications services at every level so that modern GSM technology would improve in the telecommunication industry both in Liberia and globally.

It now appears clearly that the dream of keeping the Lone Star Cell vision alive by providing quality connection services at every level in the communication industry is been achieved gradually with the coming of iConnect Mobile Broadband internet service based on the latest WiMAX Technology.

The newly launched iConnect Mobile Broadband internet service, is an internet service with high speed based on the latest generation of WiMAX technology in the world of telecommunication development and advancement to enhance quality connectivity at every level of the society globally and Liberia is of no exemption.

Though the Harvard-trained technology expert, Mazen Mroue, said the road has not been without its challenges, over time the Lone Star Cell-MTN has not only continually repeated that promise, but the management of the company has actively pursued initiatives that give true meaning to that enduring promise made in the interest of Liberians.

He said the WiMAX is a cutting-edge technology that is set to revolutionize the world of telecommunications as is known it today, introducing an exciting suite of multimedia services for the benefit of subscribers.

Assuring Liberians and foreign nationals, the LoneStar/MTN CEO in Liberia indicated that company is committed to providing all its subscribers and the Liberians people exciting and innovative products and services that make mobile communication better for the common good of the nation and its citizens.

According to Mr. Mroue the unveiling of the iConnect mobile Broadband internet service to Liberia showcases Lone Star cell MTN’s core of value and that the MTN group will continue to drive the brand in the 21 operations in Africa and the Middle East.

This is the first time the new technology has been introduced in Liberia.

Boasting about bringing into the country many quality technology to enhance telecommunication work in the country, the LoneStar CEO said the company exposed Liberians to several technology devices such as the 2.5 GPRS, EDGE and now the iConnect mobile broadband based on the WiMax technology that was about to enhance the company’s vision as the leader in converged telecommunications for Liberia.

The former Liberian Information Minister said what the management of Lone Star Cell MTN was more interested in was making Liberians experience modern communications in the country.

Demonstrating the function of the newly introduced technology, Lone Star Cell executive, Abrahim Darramie said the iConnect broadband internet service is for everyone and suits everybody that would like to carry the iConnect broadband technology.

Displaying the high speed quality the iConnent internet service has in operation, Mr. Darramie took government officials, journalists and employees of Lone Star Cell through a special internet drill that was displaced on a wide screen to download a movie, which was done in a less than a minute.

Within less than a minute, everybody in the room was watching a Nelson Mendala movie from the internet through the iConnect internet; some that Daramie used to demonstrate the power and high speed quality that subscribers would experience when they start to use the new technology in Liberia.

Mr. Darramie than assured the public that the new product which will be delivered to customers by in package will give users the benefit and the opportunity to connect on any site including Facebook and other social media sites.

He said further that the new technology introduced by Lone Star Cell/MTN will give users the opportunity to easily download and watch video conferences either at job sites, marketplaces, and schools or even in the car once one desires to communicate with friends or family members in any part of the world.
