UN chief sympathises with Kenyans over pipeline explosion - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday expressed his sorrow and sympathy to the families of the victims of the petrol pipeline explosion in Nairobi, Kenya, which reportedly killed at least 75 people and injured hundreds more.
In a statement, made available to PANA in New York, Ban extended his sympathies to the government and people of Kenya.
'The secretary-general also wishes a full and speedy recovery to the survivors and the United Nations stands in solidarity with the people of Kenya at this difficult moment,” the statement noted.
Media reports indicated that the explosion occurred on Monday morning in a densely populated slum district of Nairobi.
