Nairobi, Kenya - Tusker FC beat Congo United 1-0 in Mumias, Western Kenya, this weekend to win the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title. Tusker, sponsored by top regional brewer East African Breweries Limited, emerged the league winner with 58 points, closely followed by defending champion Ulinzi Stars with 57.
The 2009 champion, Sofapaka, finished third.
Tusker will represent Kenya in the 2012 CAF Champions League, while Gor Mahia, which finished fourth, will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Gor booked tickets to the African event after winning the FKL Cup.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Sam Nyamweya hailed Tusker's victory, saying it deserved the win.
Tusker's latest victory brings its total league wins to nine.
