Football Premier League champions - The 2009 Kenya Premier League champions, Sofapaka, were handed a 2-1 defeat by Tanzanian giants Yanga FC in a friendly match in Dar es Salaam this weekend. The hosts were leading 2-0 before emerging midfield supremo Humphrey Mieno pulled one back in the 83rd minute with a ferocious long-range shot.

Sofapaka are using the tour to gauge their readiness for the 2012 Kenyan Premier League season which kicks off on 11 February.

Another Kenyan side, Tusker, the Kenyan Premier League champions, are also in Tanzania for friendlies.

Tusker will also carry the Kenyan flag to this year's CAF Champions League event.

They booked tickets to the African event after winning the KPL last season.

Also gearing up for the continental battleground are Gor Mahia, winners of the FKL Cup, which is set to be renamed FKF Cup.

They will represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup, the continent’s second-tier club tournament.
