Guinean President pardons 15 opposition activists - Guinean President Alpha Condé has pardoned 15 opposition activists who were convicted of “violence' during the 27 September march organised by an opposition coalition, the state television reported.

Mr. Conde, who two weeks ago had urged the political leaders close to his regime to resume dialogue with the opposition, had said hinted at the release of the convicted men when he said the law allows him to pardon them.

The coalition leaders had set the release of the convicted persons as the pre-requisite for dialogue.

Two young protesters were stabbed dead during the march, while several others were injured and dozens arrested.
